My Goals for 2021

As I said in last week’s blog, I cannot believe it is a New Year already. 2020 seemed to have simultaneously dragged and flown by. We’re all hoping that magically on 1st January 2021 we wake up to a different world. The virus has gone and we are free once more.

I’m gonna assume however that this isn’t the case and instead focus on something I can control.

I have spent many many nights at my computer beavering away and working on my business. I have two lovely children and I’m broody for a third. My third baby however is my business. Although it keeps me up at night I don’t end up covered in my own breast milk from reflux. True Story! It also does exactly what it’s told and always listens. (I think it might be my favourite but don’t tell the other two).

Traditions

My husband and I like to sit down on NYE and write out our goals for the coming year. We write three things each we individually want to achieve and three things as a couple. Last year my personal goals were:

  1. Double hours working for clients

  2. Complete my training course

  3. Be more patient

Firstly I’ve got to be honest, number 3 is always on my list. I think I did extremely well this year everything considered. Especially with homeschooling and no childcare. I’m giving myself a huge tick for that one. It’ll probably still be on my list this year just so I keep focussing on it.

I’m also happy to say that I achieved number 1 and 2 also so I think goal wise I had a pretty good year.

Beginnings

I have worked on my business part-time for 4 years. I currently have a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old and it was really important to me to be at home whilst they were young. I had a well paid highly stressful job before having my son. I just couldn’t face going back to it after having him. I realised he would only be little once and I didn’t want to miss it.

I have been extremely lucky with the clients I have. They all know about my part-time working and it’s worked really well with each of their businesses. I like to think I have a great work ethic and am available at short notice for urgent matters. However, the bulk of the work either has specific deadlines (like invoicing) or can have a 24-hour turnaround time. I have slowly and organically grown my business to where it is today.

Bigger Dreams

Now that my children are older my business really is a huge focus for me. I have picked my niche (or my niche picked me) and I am wholeheartedly pursuing my dream.

I am usually really cagey about my dreams. I don’t know whether that’s because I think people will try and damper my excitement or whether actually saying them out loud will mean I’m accountable. And will therefore need to follow through. I’m a Gemini and I can be indecisive and like to change my mind. That is the prerogative of a woman anyway though right! I just don’t really like to be tied down to doing something and want to be free to change my mind without explaining why.

This year however I want to be held accountable for some of my goals and put them out there for anyone to see. I do also believe in speaking something into existence and I’m proud of my business and my achievements so far.

My Goals for 2021

  1. Grow my email list to 1000 subscribers

  2. Commit to weekly blogs

  3. Complete 6 online projects getting therapists online

Phew, that feels good! I don’t think having ambition is a bad thing. I think whatever industry you’re in you can want to be successful. Whatever that looks like to you.

I’d love you to join my Facebook Page and connect with me on Linked In. I’ve already got loads planned for 2021 in terms of great content for therapists in private practice. Whether you’re just starting out or a veteran in Private Practice I’m sure they’ll be lots of great information for you.

If you’d like to help me with a goal… No. 1 you can join my mailing list and get your hands on an amazing free download. What is the best way to Invoice.

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year! Lots of emphasis on the healthy!
